Our first dog was a rescue dog who was a cross-breed named fudge who we had to put to sleep in 2006, she was just over 16 years old.

A few months later we bought our first rough collie, Mister Marvel, a shaded sable dog, who was bred by Ray Myatt and who we named Alfie, everyone called him Alf or Bongo.

It is Alfie who was responsible for our Affix, “Alfs” “Den” as he had and still has a very special place in our heart, you can read more about Alf within this site.

The following year we decided to add to our pack and purchased Stokedale Smokey, a blue merle dog who we named Douglas. As most people in the collie world are aware this little boy was bred by Val & Chip Denham who were very helpful providing information regarding exhibiting.

When Alfie and Douglas passed away we were left with our cross breed and a very empty house so we decided to buy another Rough Collie.

We were lucky enough to come across Carristina Echoes of Gold, bred by Christine Evans. We had Dylan when he was 9 months old and have been very pleased with his progress, he is shown very occasionally as he is not keen on showing.

Bitten by the show-bug we decided that we wanted to add to our show team and were blessed with Neneland Natural Spirit, bred by Michael Saint, who we decided to name Skye.

Dylan and Skye are quality show dogs but best of all are wonderful pets, who are treasured by all of the family.

Our favorite color is the Blue Merle as we feel this is the most striking of all coat colors. After the merle Jan’s favorite is the sable and Adrian’s is the Tri.

On the 25th May 2005 Skye had her first litter of 7 puppies, we have retained Alfsden Hakuna Matata (Panya) and CH.Alfsden Circle of Life (Kimba).

On the 8th October 2006 Skye had her second litter, mated to Stokedale Storm Force. We had two survive from this litter a Tri Bitch who now lives with Vicky & Gerald Price (Brodcol), she will be shown this year and a Blue Bitch who at present is enjoying a pet-life in Cambridge

On the 18th October 2006 Panya had her first litter and we have kept Alfsden’s For Your Eyes Only (Honey) who gained her junior warrant aged 11 months and then followed this up with her first Challenge Certificate at Bournemouth 2008 and then a Reserve Challenge Certificate at Welsh KC 2008.
